- A Monophysite sect which existed from the sixth to the ninth century, or later. They held that the body of Christ was incorruptible even before the resurrection, and that he suffered death only in a phantasmal appearance. From this they are sometimes called
Phantasiasts , a name more properly belonging to the Docetæ (which see), who denied even the reality of Christ's body.
