  • A name given by E. R. Lankester to a phylum or prime group of the animal kingdom, including those forms which have lateral locomotive appendages and usually a segmented body. It is a loose and inexact synonym of Arthropoda, together with Rotifera and Chætopoda. See Arthropoda.
