A genus of sandpipers the type of which is Tringa bartramia of Wilson, now Bartramia longicauda, a common species of North America, variously called Bartram's sandpiper, upland plover, prairie pigeon, and quailly. It belongs to the family Scolopacidæ and subfamily Totaninæ, and is peculiar for the length and graduation of its tail.
