  • noun Noting an ester of the general formula C6H5NH–O–R, salts of which are formed by the action of hydrochloric acid and an alcohol on benzonitrile. The ethyl ester is an oil which forms a crystalline hydrochlorid. Also called, less correctly, benzimino ether.
