• noun Noting an ester of the general formula C₆H₅NH–O–R, salts of which are formed by the action of hydrochloric acid and an alcohol on benzonitrile. The ethyl ester is an oil which forms a crystalline hydrochlorid. Also called, less correctly, benzimino ether.
