1. n. A genus of pupivorous hymenopterous insects, of the family Proctotrypidæ, having an elongated and somewhat triangular prothorax, a flattened head, and 13-jointed antennæ.
2. n. In ornithology, a genus of South American tanagroid Passeres, based on the Lanius leverianus of Shaw, supposed to be a shrike. Antedated by Cissopis of Vieillot, 1816, based upon the same bird, and also in entomology. Also spelled Bethyllus.
