  1. n. In railroading, an automatic coupling- and locking-device for a drawbridge. When the bridge is opened the coupler sets the train-signal against the bridge and opens the switch to the derail. The closing of the draw causes the coupler to lock the bridge, release the signals, and close the derail. See bridge-lock and derail.
