- n. The native name of the Cyon primævus, the wild dog of Nepâl and northern India, supposed by some to be the original type of dog tribe. It is of a reddish color, pale underneath, with a bushy, pendulous tail, and in size intermediate between the wolf and the jackal, but with very strong limbs. It is capable of being tamed. See
