  • n. A genus of hex-actinellid sponges having a regular mushroom-shaped frond with stalk and radial convolutions, the ostia being on the under side of the umbel. It is the only representative of a family, Cœloptychidæ, and occurs in the rocks of the Upper Cretaceous.
