calvin's self-portrait. this is one of the first somewhat representational pictures he has drawn. as he drew the half circle he said, "calvin's head" and then in the middle he drew smaller circles which he said are "calvin's eyes".

i just dusted off my old MS baby magazines to look for birthday ideas for calvin's first birthday. they are still so good. classic simple and fun ideas that are easy well not that easy... it is martha to implement.

relaxing i took this picture last week when we had a day in the 60s and i was determined to spend all of it outside. during calvin's nap i laid outside on the hammock and read a book. it was nice to take time to not make dinner, not make any halloween costumes, not make anything... just sit or lay and enjoy the warmish sun.

also i have been super inspired by these. i want to make a series of small quilts for calvin's room. he doesn't have anything above his crib on the wall because i have been super paranoid about anything heavy that could fall on him, so a small lightweight quilt might be just perfect.
