  3. A crooked stick or club; a crooked beam; specifically, a crooked club used in the game of hockey or shinny.   1. English dial. also cambuck, kambuck; from Middle English cammok, from Anglo-Saxon cammoc, cammocc, cammuc, commuc (also once cammoce, perhaps miswritten for cammocc), a plant, glossed peucedanum.
  2. English dial, and Scots; English dial. also cambuck, Scots camack; from Middle English cambok (Middle Latin cambuca, cambuta, cambutta), of Celtic origin. Cf. Gaelic camag, anything crooked or curved, a club, crook, curl, bay, etc.; cf. equivalent Scots cammon, from Gaelic Irish caman, a club for golf or cricket, from cam, crooked, bent: see cam.
