- A family of non-passerine zygodactyl birds, the scansorial barbets, inhabiting the warmer parts of both hemispheres. Leading genera are Pogonorhynchus, Megalæma, Calorhamphus, etc., of the old world, and Capito of the new. The family name is almost inextricably confused with Bucconidæ. See
