- n. A genus of strobilosaurian acrodont lacertilians, of the family Agamidæ, natives of Australia; the frill-lizards. The C. kingi has a curious crenated membrane-like ruff or tippet round its neck, which lies back in plaits upon the body when the animal is tranquil, but which is elevated when it is irritated or frightened. Its head is large in proportion to its body. A full-grown specimen is about 3 feet in length. See cut under frill-lizard.
