1. n. A genus of fishes, typical of the family Cyclopteridæ. By the older authors it was made to include all forms with an imperfectly ossified skeleton and the ventral fins united in a broad suctorial disk; by later authors it is restricted to the lump-fish (C. lumpus) and closely related species.
