1. n. In zoögeog., a prime zoölogical division or realm of the earth's surface, including Centra] America and the West Indies, south of the Anglogæan or Nearctic realm, and the tropical portions of South America. It is less comprehensive than the Neotropical region, since the latter includes all of South America. See Amphigean, 2.
