  • It all started in 1169 when this philandering eejit, then King of Leinster, found himself across Saint George's channel in South Wales, having persuaded the (willing) wife of a regional king to accompany him. He then invited one of the locals, Richard Fitzgilbert de Clare, more commonly known as Strongbow, back to Ireland to help him reclaim his kingdom.
