1. n. A genus of ordinary amœbiform rhizopods, of the order Amœboidea and family Arcellidœ, having a kind of test or shell made of foreign particles agglutinated together, as grains of sand, diatoms, etc.: so called from the flowing out or apart of the pseudopods. D. urceolata is an example.
