- A family of siphonophorous oceanic hydrozoans, of the order Calycophora, having a pair of large swimming-bells or nectocalyces opposite each other on the upper part of the stem. It is represented by the genera Diphyes and Abyla. (See extract under diphyid.) Also Diphydaœ, Diphydes.
