1. n. In embryology, the morula or mulberry-mass which results from the partial and discoidal segmentation of the formative vitellus or yolk of a meroblastic egg (amphicytula). and proceeds to develop successively into a discoblastula and a discogastrula. It is in the shape of a flat disk of similar cells at the animal pole of the egg. A bird′ s egg is an example, the tread, or cicatricula, being found in all the stages above mentioned. Haeckel.
