  • In Saville Kent's classification, one of four classes of Protozoa, containing the sponges and collarbearing monads, or Spongida and Choanoflagellata. so called from the characteristic discoidal configuration of the introceptive area: contrasted with Pantostomata, Eustomata, and Polystomata.
