- noun One who holds a particular theory of elasticity: used by Boyle with reference to his law. See quotation under elastic, a., 2.
- noun One who holds that many of the phenomena connected with the air-pump are to be explained by the elasticity of the air, and who maintains the truth of Boyle's law that the density of a gas is proportional to the pressure.
