Ancient Greek from ἐπίλογος (epilogos, "a conclusion, peroration of a speech, epilogue of a play") + -ism, from ἐπιλέγειν (epilegein, "say in addition"), from ἐπί (epi, "in addition") + λέγειν (legein, "to say"). See epilogue.
