1. n. In petrography, a phanerocrystalline rock intermediate in composition between diorite, gabbro, and nephelite-syenite. It contains labradorite and some orthoclase, occasionally ncphelite, together with pyroxene, barkevikitic hornblende, olivin, and biotite. Sears, 1891.
