The earthworms and nematodes are being exposed to a variety of toxins and chemicals including cadmium, copper, atrazine, fluoranthene and the insecticide aldicarb.
The same report also indicated that laboratory tests have shown the site is contaminated with fluoranthene, phenanthrene, benzo (a) pyrene, and several metals including arsenic, chromium, copper, lead, silver and mercury all at levels that exceeded residential clean-up, direct contact or drinking water protection criteria.
