  • In petrography, resembling or somewhat like gabbro; also suggested by Chamberlin and Salisbury (1904) as a general term applicable to any crystalline rock in which the ferromagnesian minerals predominate: thus, many diorites, gabbros, and dolerites, and all peridotites would be gabbroids.
