- noun A peruke or periwig worn by both men and women. The frequent changes in the style of hair-dressing were imitated by these perukes. They were also worn for disguise, etc.
- noun A round or helmet-like hat of leather; a hat or head-dress worn by some priests, especially the flamen Dialis; any close-fitting cap, whether of cloth or of leather.
