- A family of stegocephalian amphibians having fully ossified vertebræ and basioccipitals, a ventral armor of elongated bony scutes, and teeth with infolded layers of dentin. The genera (Anthracosaurus, Loxomma, etc.) are of Carboniferous and Permian age.
