1. n. In petrography, a fine-grained to aphanitic rock composed of orthoclase and lime-soda feldspars in about equal portions and subordinate amounts of ferromagnesian constituents. It is intermediate in composition between trachyte and andesite: similar to andesite-trachyte, trachydolerite, etc.
