- n. A machine for napping or finishing cloth; a machine employing teazels to draw the loose ends of wool in a woven fabric to the surface to form a nap. The teazels are arranged on the face of revolving cylinders, before which the fabric is made to pass. Artificial teazels of wire are sometimes used. After the napping, the fabric is finished by shearing. Also called gig-machine, gig-mill, and teazeling-machine.
