- n. A species of cypress, Thuyopsis dolobrata, easily distinguished from other species by the yellow-green of the upper side of the leaves and the blue-green and peculiar marking of the under side. Its wood is yellow, and is remarkably durable in water, so that it is much used for stakes as well as in ship and bridge-building. It is also used for lacquer-ware. See
