- n. A reddish-brown powdery compound, C32H40O7N4, found in the urine of fever-patients and in feces. It is generally supposed to be a reduction-product of bilirubin, formed by the activity of bacteria in the intestinal canal. According to others, and notably Garrod, it is a laboratory product and occurs neither in the urine nor in the feces.
