Not IME; where I work we have a collection of Adobe Type 1 fonts that came with a Linotronic imagesetter ca. 1993, some date-stamped as early as 1990 IIRC.
They all they need to do is open the document in InDesign run another preflight and send it off to the imagesetter (or printer).
