  2. Isochasmic curves imaginary lines on the earth's surface passing through points having the same annual number of auroras. It will be noticed that, eastward from England, the isochasmic curves tend rapidly northward, Archangel being only on the same auroral parallel as Newcastle. Encyc. Brit., III. 97.
