uselessness A tank built for the purpose of sensory deprivation. It is pitch black and soundproof, and its use involves floating on one's back in still water to nearly eliminate the perception of gravity. The temperatures of the air and water are matched, so that the skin cannot detect a difference between the two. The end result is a complete lack of of stimuli, used for meditation and relaxation. A typical session lasts twenty minutes.
