1. n. A hollow iron or steel casting pierced on its upper surface with a number of small holes. A mixture of air and vapor comes through these and forms jets of combustible vapor or gas, which, meeting additional air from tubes in the center of the groups of small holes, gives complete combustion and a blue flame.
