- n. Any one of several species of predatory bugs of the family Reduviidæ. Applied notably to Opsicoetes personatus, Melanolestes picipes, Rasahus biguttatus, and Conorhinus sanguisugus. The name kissing-bug originated in the newspapers in June, 1899, many persons being bitten that, summer and often on the lip.
