  • noun In the reed-organ and harmonium, a lever operated by the performer's knee, for regulating the wind-supply, for opening or shutting the box in which the reeds are placed, or for temporarily drawing all the stops, so as to produce crescendo and diminuendo effects. Also called knee-swell.
