- n. A native name for a myrtaceous tree, Melrosideros polymorpha, found in the Hawaiian, Marquesas, Society, Samoan, Fiji, and Kermadec islands. It bears beautiful red flowers, which are much prized by the natives. The wood is very hard, furnishes the best fuel, and is also used for building purposes. Many of the old idols were made of it. ohia-lehua . Seeohia .
