1. n. A lycopodiaceous fossil plant, allied to Lepidodendron and found in the Devonian of Maine, New Brunswick, and the adjacent region of northeastern America, and also in beds of similar age in Australia. The stem is covered with broad rhombic leaf-bases or-cushions, each with a single small vascular scar a little above its center, and above this a very slight furrow. This is a characteristically Devonian genus.
