1. n. A genus of fishes, the mud-cats, of the family Siluridæ and subfamily Ictalurinæ, with large flattened head, projecting lower jaw, and peculiar dentition. L. olivaris is a large catfish living on muddy bottoms of streams and lakes in the southern and western parts of the United States. Rafinesque, 1820.
2. n. In entomology, a genus of snout-beetles, of the family Curculionidæ, comprising many Australian species of large or medium size, whitish or brown color, with narrow linear vertical eyes and a distinct scutellum.
