- n. A tree which yields mastic, especially Pistacia Lentiscus. See mastic, 1 and 2.
- n. A valuable tree of Florida and the West Indies, Sideroxylon Mastichodendron. The wood is very hard and heavy. strong, and close-grained. It resists the attacks of teredo, and is largely used in ship- and boat-building. It bears a plum-like fruit, of a pleasant subacid flavor, eagerly eaten by animals.
