  3. Megalopa Stage in the development of crabs, an advanced larval stage in which the animal has large eyes, an extended abdomen, and well-developed pleopods. It is therefore interesting to find that in the zoea and through the larval and post-larval (megalopa) stages, the shore-crab possesses a primary and a secondary chromatophore system of a very clearly defined character.
