- a colorless liquid olefinic ketone, (CH3)2C:CHCOCH3, prepared by the action of hydrochloric-acid gas, sulphuric acid, or zinc chlorid on acetone. It has an odor of peppermint and boils at 129.5–130° C. Also called
isopropylidine-acetone and 2 -methyl- 2 -pentenone.
