Great Bay is a mesotidal estuary with the average tidal range varying from 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) at the mouth of the estuary to 2.0 meters (6.6 feet) at Dover Point, increasing slightly to 2.1 meters (6.9 feet) at the mouth of the Squamscott River.
Tides are semi-diurnal and in the mesotidal range (less than six feet or less than 2 meters).
