  • noun A coal-tar color produced by the direct oxidation of pure dimethylaniline with chlorid of copper. Also called Paris violet.
  • noun One of several basic colors of the triphenylmethane group. They consist chiefly of the hydrochlorids of pentamethyl and hexamethyl pararosaniline or their benzyl derivatives.
