- n. A constellation, the mountain Mænalus, formed of a few stars in the feet of Boötes. It was introduced in 1690, in a posthumous work of Hevelius. The name (that of a mountain in Arcadia) is connected with the myth of Areas and his mother, personages identified with the Great Bear and Boötes by the Greeks. The constellation is not now admitted.
