  • A superfamily of prionodes-maceous Pelecypoda, including shells of varied form, normally equivalve, inequilateral, and dimyarian, with obscure hinge-area and parivincular, opisthodetic ligament. They are of fluviatile or brackish-water habit. Species occur from the Devonian to the present.
