Again, normal logic dictates that it should have been my equipment that was faulty, but something didn't seem right ... and I checked status logs on both devices and, while I'm only really familiar with syslog/netflow type output, the vague error messages from the devices were what made me have a hunch that the AEBS was trying to pull an IP but the modem wasn't spitting one out.
