  • noun A genus of grasses which includes 3 species, all natives of Australia, characterized by the ovoid or cylindrical spike and sessile spikelets, and a single terminal hermaphrodite flower with rarely a male flower below it. N. Mitchelliana is a low thickly-growing species which endures drought and produces a good pasture feed. See mulga-grass.
