1. n. A genus of sand-stars or brittle-stars, variously restricted by different authors. The term is used with great latitude of definition, and gives name to a family and to the whole order to which it belongs. In the late most restricted sense it is discarded, and Ophioderma is substituted, giving name to a family Ophiodermatidæ.
