  • The image that came to mind when I first came across "the pike" was of a long, winding, country road littered with people and animals all playing dead (some better than others)all alongside *desperately trying to muffle snorts*.

    But now I'm thinking it sounds like a bucolic stretch of dirt that you'd find in an A.A. Milne or Beatrix Potter book...
